Companion for SwiftUI – Beta Release (v4.0.0)

A new release of The Companion for SwiftUI is here! See the details below. Also learn the ways in which you can get the update, depending on where you originally purchased your license (App Store or swiftui-lab.com).

This update is FREE to all users with a valid license of any version of the Companion app.

This update includes a large content update, which contains almost everything added to the framework in WWDC ’22. The only exception, is the Charts API, which will be available soon.

Because macOS 13.0 (Ventura) is still in beta, this version of the app is also a beta version. It has been built with Xcode 14.1 beta 3 (the latest as of September 30th, 2022).

Apple’s App Store rejects apps built with a beta Xcode, so this version is only available to download from this website. This is until macOS Ventura is officially released. Nevertheless, if you obtained the app from the Apple App Store, you may still use this version. See below for installation details.

In addition to the large content update, you may now search for a topic from the system’s menu bar. Either click on the menu bar icon or use the global shortcut to activate the popover. You may change the shortcut and other options of the menu bar popover from the application’s preference window.

UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

If you obtained your license from this website, simply download the dmg file linked below, open it and drag the app to the Applications folder. If you want to keep the older version, simply use a different name.

If you obtained the app from Apple’s App Store, you may download the dmg file linked below. open it and drag the app to the Applications folder. This will not override the app store version of the app, because they have different names (“A Companion for SwiftUI.app” and “SwiftUI Companion.app”). It is important that you do not remove the app from the App Store. This beta version checks for an existing and valid App Store version of the app to activate itself every time it launches. Note that you can easily distinguish between both versions not only because their names are different. The App Store version has a blue icon. The version from this website has an orange icon.
